Max Factory is going to release the Seena ( シーナ ) Swimsuit Ver. ( 水着ver. ) 1/7 PVC figure form the “Shining” game series “Shining Wind” published by SEGA. Will be released in July 2010. Around 235mm tall, 6,476 yen.

From the manufacturer description, we know that there will be 3 more Shining Wind figure (in swimsuit) coming in August, September, and October. Just a blind guess, I think the other 3 will be Xecty, Elwing la Sylphis, and Kureha ( or maybe Blanc Neige).

It seems that the figure manufacturers find a new way to rob our money. They start to release figures in series so that we have/want to collect the whole set Such as the Revoltech Queen’s Blade, figma K-ON!, WAVE Beach Queens, and now this Shining Wind swimsuit series, they all use this strategy.

But unless you planned really really well or the figures used a lot of common parts like the Revoltech QB and figma, otherwise it’s pretty hard to release one figure every month for the same series. You need to find sculptors, book the production house in China, packaging, printing, etc…. In order to cut the down production time, swimsuit figure is a way out since swimsuit is a lot easier to make than the regular clothes. So I believe that’s why Max Factory is releasing this Shining Wind figure series in swimsuit.

I’m not a Shining Wind fan so this doesn’t affect me at all. But for those Shining Wind fans, oops, sugar water+bread time again. =P
